Abstract. Shabira AP, Tjahjoleksono A, Lestari Y. 2022. Endophytic actinobacteria of Eleutherine palmifolia as antioxidant producer. Biodiversitas 23: 4209-4215. can generate bioactive compounds similar to those produced by the host plant. The (L.) Merr is an example a widely utilized plant in Dayak community. Flavonoids, which have effects, are among found E. palmifolia. activity endophytic remains unidentified. aim this study was examine Antioxidant from isolates determined quantitatively using DPPH and ABTS methods. Identification types compound samples identified TLC assay bioautography test. Analysis flavonoid levels performed colorimetric aluminum chloride (AlCl3). result showed that extraction six with ethyl acetate solvent had different yields. extract EPB 6 isolate highest (0.013%) yield. 3 best activity, 53.85 mg/mL (DPPH) 42.43 (ABTS). same blue spots analysis, indicating presence flavonol flavones groups. test yellow color, qualitatively activity. total content also higher (25.30 QE/mg) than other five isolates, while it 46.03 QE/mg extract. It clear present produce antioxidants.

Enzyme Characterization of Endophytic Actinobacteria Isolated from Tomato Plants

Endophytic actinobacteria produce active metabolites, protecting plant tissues against stress. They compounds are widely used in human and veterinary pharmaceutics and agriculture, and of several enzymes with biotechnological potential. The present study characterizes the enzymatic production of endophytic actinobacteria colonizing tomato plants. Twenty-three actinobacteria isolates were tested...

Molecular Interactions of Endophytic Actinobacteria in Wheat and Arabidopsis

The endophytic actinobacterial population in the roots of wheat grown in three different soils obtained from the southeast part of South Australia was investigated by terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T-RFLP) analysis of the amplified 16S rRNA genes. A new, validated approach was applied to the TRFLP analysis in order to estimate, to the genus level, the actinobacterial populat...

Hyperglycemic control and diabetes complication preventive activities of Bawang Dayak (Eleutherine palmifolia L. Merr.) bulbs extracts in alloxan-diabetic rats

Bawang Dayak (Eleutherine palmifolia L. Merr.) is traditionally used to cure diabetes mellitus and other diseases by Dayak tribes in Kalimantan Island, Indonesia, despite there is no scientific reports on its anti-diabetic activity both in-vitro or in-vivo. The study aimed to evaluate the ability of aqueous (EPA) and ethanolic extracts (EPE) of Eleutherine palmifolia L. Merr. bulbs to control h...

Draft genome sequence of Paenibacillus dauci sp. nov., a carrot-associated endophytic actinobacteria

Paenibacillus dauci sp. nov., a new kind of endophytic actinobacteria, is separated from the inner tissues of carrot sample, which forms intimated associations with carrot acting as biological control agents. Here we report a 5.37-Mb assembly of its genome sequence and other useful information, including the coding sequences (CDSs) responsible for biological processes such as antibiotic metabol...

Endophytic Actinobacteria and the Interaction of Micromonospora and Nitrogen Fixing Plants

For a long time, it was believed that a healthy plant did not harbor any microorganisms within its tissues, as these were often considered detrimental for the plant. In the last three decades, the numbers of studies on plant microbe-interactions has led to a change in our view and we now know that many of these invisible partners are essential for the overall welfare of the plant. The applicati...
